Kim Rok Soo suddenly woke up in a fantasy world and his plan really was to:
Max out DEF (Unbreakable Shield)
Max out VIT (Vitality of the Heart)
Max out AGI (Sound of Wind)
Not get involved in the main plot, I guess
???
Be a slacker
Profit!!

And you’re saying that it tastes so much sweeter
Well, I’ve been there, and it’s bitter.
Had my updated Arrigal under my belt for a while but only recently finished him because he’s briefly with the party! Which means we get a lot more time to analyze the most complicated man in the world.

Ok but as someone who has generally been enjoying this season of TLOVM but certainly has some degree of expectations for episodes 10-12 and generally has standards for what makes a good story, people knee-jerk defending literally any adaptational changes in TLOVM with "DO YOU HATE CHANGE" are not fucking helpful. This is true anywhere, honestly, from adaptation to major twists in stories to real world politics. If someone expresses dislike of a change, jumping immediately to "OH YOU HATE CHANGE????" is, in fandom, utterly counterproductive, and in politics and activism, breathtakingly lacking in empathy and also utterly counterproductive (it's not terribly empathetic in fandom either, but that matters way less).
Some people do knee-jerk hate change simply for being change!Change is very difficult and the familiar is comforting! But quite often they have valid concerns about specific changes and dismissing them will not help your argument. And even if they did hate change simply because it's change, do you think it's helpful to just point accusingly? Or do you perhaps need to craft an argument on why, at the very least, you support this change, and why they might consider doing so as well? Do you like change simply because it's change, because that's not any less instinctual and lacking in reasoning than the reverse.

now that the shock has died down, I have both good and mixed feelings about a Mercer D20 campaign. on one hand, it was pretty much inevitable after exu calamity and aabria bouncing around everywhere to complete the trifecta, and I think if he has the right cast it could be really magical. d20 clearly wants to have a mix of folks behind the screen for different campaigns, and as they continue to be a huge name in the ttrpg space he was bound to come in. that being said, i don’t really vibe much with cr’s extended campaigns? i’ve tried, but I only really loved exu calamity, which i started watching for obvious brennan and lou-related reasons, and loved because of the tight plot, brennan’s mastery of storytelling, and the cast being laser-focused on it.
this might mean that matt’s style might work much better for me in a shorter campaign. or it could be really jarring and too condensed and weird without him in his usual element with his usual players. idk. i want it to be good, but i don’t think dropout should have teased it in the middle of the current season with JUST matt’s face and nothing else, it leans a little too hard on him as advertising. it’s clearly gonna make a lot of $$ for dropout, which we do always love to see.

whenever we're playing Curse of Strahd and the DM (my husband) decides it's time to introduce a NPC who is either morally dubious or straight up obviously evil but describes and voices them in such a way that they're clearly super charismatic and/or hot:

the mighty nein animated teaser focusing on jester gives me such brainrot. because in many ways… the mighty nein is jester’s coming of age story.
it’s her story. it’s her who first reaches out to caleb and nott at the tavern. it’s her who charms molly and yasha. it’s her who constantly gives the party the hope and bravery they need to face their own paths. it’s her love that cracks open essek. it’s her connection with and love for molly that finally brings lucien down. it’s her tale of growing up, of coming into your own.
i know all of the characters are equally important, and everybody’s got their favorite (jester isn’t even mine), but man. i sure wouldn’t mind if her journey was the through-line for the animated series.

If we assume for a moment that a) Ludinus is from Aeor originally, and b) he wasn't actually in the city when it went down (because he's, y'know, alive), then I really want to know how he got out.
Was it a last-minute sacrifice and teleport from a desperate parent or friend? A selfish and cowardly flight from someone who could see what was coming and had the magic to get himself out? Pure dumb luck? Did he happen to be somewhere else, coincidentally, and watched from afar as everything went crashing down? Did someone drag him away against his will? Did he fight to the end and only run away when the collapse became inevitable?

rereading the idiot for my idiot-based d&d campaign has made me realize and get excited over how fucking batshit it is all over again. like what the fuck. i could write a whole essay about nastasya and how Doomed By The Narrative she is. this is why dostoevsky can bear my children
